FEBRUARY 2009 TRESTLE BOARD FROM THE EAST When I accepted the challenge as Worshipful Master of Moriah Lodge #15 for the 2009 ensuing Masonic year I did so with full knowledge and understanding of the evolvement, the work, the responsibilities, the need to manage, guide and direct the many business requirements of the Lodge. I agreed to do this to the best of my abilities and to devote this year of my life to the cause. To accomplish these rather difficult and arduous tasks, requires the support and assistance of every member of the Lodge. It simply cannot be done by a few individual. Unfortunately, there has been very little support For the Masonic activities and the Government of the lodge. Changes and programs that will be suggested and implemented this year will have a serious impact on our future. Changes that we feel are necessary for our Lodge to stay viable and be successful. I know that we all resist change, this is human nature, but I also know that to grow or even exist, changes are necessary. I think that it is time to reevaluate your thinking, get involved and show interest. Remember that these changes are not to promote someone's ego but rather for the betterment of the Lodge and our Fraternity in general. The several projects which are planned, to improve our facility, will be put on hold pending the outcome of the recommendations of the "AD HOC' Committee. I trust that this committee will be submitting a report to the Master in the near future and that we can move ahead with what is necessary and beneficial to our future existence. Since there are so few members that attend our Stated Meetings, The business of our Lodge is being governed by those few that do attend and often important considerations , effecting the future of our Lodge, are in the hands of about three (3%) of the members. The point is that, if you have an interest in future of your Lodge, you must attend our Stated Meetings and let your voices be heard. There will be important decisions made in the near future, decisions that will affect the actual existence of our Lodge. Be active in the process of running our Lodge. Show an interest. Attend our meetings. Our Fund Raising programs in January were somewhat successful, particularly in view of the inclement weather. We were pleasantry surprised at the attendance of our Turkey Pot Pie Dinner. Thirty seven brave and faithful soles weathered a very bad snow storm to attend. Thank to all of you for your support. Our Fund Raiser for February will be a Dinner on February 14th. Valentine‘s Day. So bring your lady and enjoy a good dinner and a night out. We hope to install three (3) new Brothers at our Stated Meeting on February 11. 2009. We will also be honored with R\W\ John S. Rhoads, District Deputy 9A of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Connecticut. We will also be honored with the attendance of W\Brother Theodore C. Rupar, Associate Grand Marshall of The Most Worshipful grand Lodge of Connecticut. They will be making their Official Inspection of Moriah lodge # 15. Fraternally, William Petrey, Worshipful Master |
